We have decided to start up a mailing list, so if you would like to get e-mail notifications of updates to the website or upcoming shows please contact us and gives us your e-mail address.
Andrew has taken on a new project. He decided to explore the world of Japanese toy robots. The project first started as a way to explore still life photography by combining his love for portraiture with the toy robots. But after some research he has discovered a world of passionate collectors and fans, now the project is morphing into a study of this world of passionate, some would say obsessive collecting of these unique objects. To be honest he finds himself being drawn into this world, maybe it is his engineering background, or maybe he is just returning to a childhood love of Japanese inspired cartoons, comics, and toys. He hopes you enjoy the journey. The hope is that eventually this project will result in a show at Perk Up and a new book. Check back in periodically for updates and new pictures. Follow the link above to see the first few images. Leah is nearly finished with her first year of her PhD program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She fished her first semester with a perfect 4.0!!! So please send her an e-mail congratulation. In other news Andrew fist classes at the Art League were a success!! He is teaching a second round starting April 13th. The toy camera class is full, but there are still slots for the darkroom class. Check out the NEWS section for details. We would like to apologize for not updating the website more often, life has been crazy for both of us this past year. Andrew is working through a mountain of rolls of film and hopes to trickle out new images through out the year. Andrew has added a few new images to gallery A2 and gallery A5 . Leah is very busy with school so probably won't have much time for serious photography, but she will do her best to get a few new images out this year.
GreenStPhotography is a partnership between two photographers, Leah Washington and Andrew Phillips, who live in Old Town Alexandria, VA. Green St. epitomizes the convergence of events that led us to joining our talents. Leah moved to Alexandria in 2005 just a few blocks (down Green St) from Andrew. A few months later, a coffee shop on the corner, Perk Up, came under newer and friendlier management. Over many caffeinated beverages, we decided that this would be a great place to exhibit our work. Once we decided to formalize our partnership, the challenge of deciding on a name for ourselves was our first task. Given our respective locations and our penchant for consuming coffee, GreenStPhotography seemed the most appropriate. We hope you'll take a look at our galleries and let us know what you think! Welcome!
